Happy Spring!

Hello everyone! Spring is just around the corner and I know we are all looking forward to warmer days and nicer weather. The world is a crazy place right now with the coronavirus all around us, so we are sending our thoughts and prayers out to everyone!

Our March letter features Francis' newest pal, Roscoe, a retired sleuth hound. The real Francis actually did think he was a dog! He had so much fun being "one of the pack", so we thought it would be fun to do a letter that featured a dog for his new best pal.  We chose the bloodhound because they are such characters and so much fun to put voices to. This is a great time to teach your little ones all about dogs and turn them into life-long dog lovers! We've put together some lists for you below to get you started: Movies & TV Shows with Bloodhounds Lady and the Tramp 1 & 2 The Aristocats 1960's sitcom "The Beverly Hillbillies" Pogo Cats & Dogs Cinderella 1 & 2 A Christmas Story The Fox and the Hound 1 & 2 Santa Buddies: The Legend of Santa Paws 101 Dalmations 2: Patch's London Adventure Fun Websites with Games about Dogs Disney LOL - PBS Kids - Great Dog Books for Kids

  • This website has a wonderful list of books about dogs. You can find them at your local library or on Amazon if you want to start a collection.

  • AKC's (American Kennel Club) Reading Program - Offers children a new way to bond with dogs. AKC's reading program invites participants to read a book of their choosing to a dog. They may read to their own dog, a dog belonging to a family member or friend, a therapy dog, etc. If a child needs help finding a dog to read to, they can use our database to find a local Canine Ambassador and schedule a visit.

Fun Activities

  • Get outside and enjoy Spring! Have a sensory scavenger hunt or make a treasure map of your yard or a park, and see if your kids can find the treasure. There's a ton of ideas online!

  • Download this month's free FunSheet from our website. It includes an outdoor scavenger hunt, a smelling game, a recipe for "Dirt Puppy Chow", and more!

And of course, if you are thinking about a new family dog, then please support your local shelters!

Thank you for supporting our letters!

Until next time,

Jamie & Francis

February Update: Thank you to all of our new subscribers that signed up in February. We featured Paba & Merindah the koalas, wanting to bring awareness to the Australian wildfires. We teamed up with my daughter at Letters from Afar and were able to donate $617 to the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
